"Give a man a fish and he feeds himself for a day. Teach a man to fish and he feeds himself for a lifetime."

We've all heard this saying, and it is one of life's truisms that if you know how to do something, you then have the ability to do it yourself. It doesn't mean you will do it, but you do have the ability to do it.

That's why I've added a tutorials section to the website. I want to give people the opportunity to make the changes to their lives, without having to spend a ton of money learning how. 

Over the past 20 years I have taken more than 3,000 hours of classroom training in Clinical Hypnosis, Hypnotherapy, Psychology, Coaching and a whole range of other subjects. I've also watched hundreds of videos, and taken numerous online and distance learning courses. This has cost me dearly in both time and money, and I learned some very valuable lessons.

I know that there are lots of people out there offering training in Hypnosis, NLP and a whole host of other self-help tools, and that is great. I wish you all the best in that. But to be honest, the average course runs to about £1600 (about $2400), which really puts it out of the range of 90% of people, and (this is what irks me somewhat) many of the training courses just aren't good value for money.

Now Hold on a Minute

If you are a trainer of these tools, then wait a minute before you attack me for maligning the industry. I can talk from real personal experience here, and not just from one off courses. I have taken more than 10 NLP practitioner, advanced practitioner and trainer courses, about the same in Hypnosis and Hypnotherapy and about 2 dozen other courses covering coaching, counselling and psychotherapy amongst others. That doesn't even begin to cover the 'distance learning' courses.

I am talking from experience here. Week long courses that cost thousands, and are taken up by someone telling a stream full of anecdotes, days that start at 10am, finish at 4:30pm and give 1 1/2 hours for lunch, and 2 x 45 minute coffee breaks, course material that gives just enough information so you have to go back for another course, or the' material copied from the Internet and re-badged.

I'm not saying all courses are like this, just a lot are and it can cost a lot of money to find out. That I do know, I think that over the last 20 years I've seen most of it, and it has cost me to do it - about £80k ($125k) at last count.

What about MY courses

If you've taken a look at my courses you might have noticed that something is missing...that's right, I don't offer certification courses. Not because I can't, but purely because I don't believe in them. People charge a premium for 'Licensing' or 'Certification', which is a piece of paper to hang on the wall, they don't really have any meaning beyond the 'look what I've got factor'.

When courses are standardised, quality assured and professional, then I'll think about offering certifications. Until then I'll continue to offer skills based, and how to courses. In reality for 80% of people all they want to know is how to improve something, and I'd rather teach people what they need, rather than what someone 'thinks' they should have to get a piece of paper!

And so we come to this section, why am I putting tutorials up here for free. Because I firmly believe that the tools of Hypnosis, NLP and all the other self-help techniques should be available to everyone, and I have the knowledge born of experience that I want to share.

And so, I have added a tutorials section that I will add to as time permits. Eventually it will include videos, training manuals, how-to guides, just about anything I can think of, and maybe stuff I can't.
