Pain Management

Clinical Hypnosis for Pain Management

Pain, whether long term (chronic) or short term (acute) can be debilitating and has a real and measurable impact on quality of life. Hypnosis has been shown to be very effective in the management and relief of pain, and is particularly useful when other options (such as medication) are unavailable or unsuitable.

Whether it is the constant pain from arthritis, cancer or other illness, or the short-term, but no less distressing pain associated with surgery, headaches or migraines, they can all be relieved to different degrees with Clinical Hypnosis.

Pain is your body's way of telling you that something is wrong and that remedial action needs to be taken, unfortunately the pain continues even after the problem has been identified and resolved. You body has no easy way of 'switching off' the warning that is pain, with hypnosis you can 'turn down the volume' of this alarm and get relief from the pain.

Pain relief through hypnosis is real, and a great deal of research has been done as pain is one of the greatest issues that the medical profession face when dealing with illness, and finding effective solutions is a top priority. In fact sales of pain medication tops £10billion annually.

Using Hypnosis for pain relief has many benefits as there are no side effects, no withdrawal symptoms, and it doesn't interact with other medication.

Self-Hypnosis and Pain Management

Our approach to pain management is a little different from others in our field as we believe that our job is not to 'fix' the pain at the moment but to give you the ability to manage the pain you have, when you have it. We see no advantage to you coming to us every time you are in pain, and a much better approach is to teach you how to 'turn down' the pain when it occurs.

Please be aware that our pain management self-hypnosis approach has been specifically developed for Physiological (from the body) pain caused by an underlying physical condition, and that Psychological (from the mind) pain is very different, and often has its roots in mental or emotional trauma which need to be addressed before the pain can be relieved.

Pain Management Self-Hypnosis Sessions
Because our approach to pain management techniques are more about self-hypnosis than Clinical Hypnosis our sessions are structured differently.

You will still be given the pre-Hypnosis overview as we know that this will help when it comes to learning how to hypnotise yourself, however there is little time spent of the pre-Induction investigation as it is usually clear as to the nature of the pain.

We will take you into hypnosis several times so you are aware of what it feels like, and then we will teach you how to hypnotise yourself to relieve the pain. Now, normally when people talk about self-hypnosis it is a long process, however what we teach will get you into a deep state of hypnosis within a few seconds, and you will be able to begin managing the pain within 1-minute, yes it really is that fast.

The best thing about self-hypnosis for pain relief is the fact that the more you use it, the better and longer lasting it becomes.

Pain Management self-hypnosis Workshops

Over the years we have found that people with chronic pain know many others in the same position, and they can all benefit from the use of self-hypnosis. In these cases we think it sensible to offer a group workshop on Pain Management with Self-Hypnosis.

This workshop covers everything that we normally cover in a one-to-one session, but is run in such a way that the whole group can benefit.

Naturally we offer this course at the much reduced price of £35. The workshop lasts for about 2 hours, and there needs to be a minimum of 6 people on the workshop for it to run.

More information on the workshop can be found here.

If you are interested in a group workshop on this subject then please call the office on 0208 1234 664.
